Criticism Over Alleged Extravagance

Kathmandu — President has administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Prime Minister and members of the Council of Ministers.

The parliamentary party leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), which secured a majority in the House of Representatives elections held on 21 Falgun, took the oath of office along with other ministers nominated by the party.

The swearing-in ceremony has drawn criticism for being overly extravagant. Critics have remarked that the event resembled the grandeur of royal coronation ceremonies during the monarchical era.

The Prime Minister was appointed in accordance with Article 76(1) of the Constitution, as the leader of the majority party in the House of Representatives.

The new Council of Ministers is as follows:

– Prime Minister; Minister for Defence and Industry

– Minister for Home Affairs

– Minister for Foreign Affairs

– Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development

– Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation
