Surkhet. The ruling coalition has been forced to bear the brunt of new ‘criticism’ while trying to erase the ‘criticism’ from all quarters saying that the cabinet has not been completed for a long time since the formation of the Karnali state government.
One hundred days after Nepali Congress leader Jeevan Bahadur Shahi became the Chief Minister, the Council of Ministers will be completed. Shahi, who took over the leadership of the government on October 29, is planning to add five members, including one non-parliamentarian, to the eight-member cabinet.
Chief Minister Shahi has recommended Chiring Dumdum Lama (Karchen), a non-MP from the CPN (Maoist Center) and Ganesh Prasad Singh, an MP from Jajarkot, as ministers, while Padam Rokaya from Jumla has been appointed as a minister by the CPN (Unified Samajbadi).
Similarly, Yagya Bahadur Budha Chhetri, a former social development minister from the Nepali Congress, and Him Bahadur Shahi, a party whip, have been confirmed to be ministers.
Criticism has been rife after the CPN-Maoist Center recommended non-MPs, including those convicted on criminal charges, to the ministry. Even the Maoist central parliamentarians and leaders and cadres are criticizing.
Whistleblower of the Maoist Central Parliamentary Party Thammar Bista has described this incident as a ‘scandal’ of the Maoist movement. In the cabinet, Bindaman Bista has been appointed as the Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning from the Maoists and Chandra Bahadur Shahi has been appointed as the Minister of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives by the Samajbadi.
