Kathmandu. The ruling parties have filed an impeachment motion against Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabara at the Parliament Secretariat.
The ruling parties Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN (Unified Samajbadi) have registered the proposal today.
Chief Whip of the UCPN (M) Dev Gurung said that the impeachment has been registered in the parliament in accordance with Article 101, Clause 2 of the Constitution.
On the same day that the Nepal Bar resumed its agitation against Rana, the ruling coalition filed a motion accusing the Chief Justice of 21 points.
There is a provision to suspend the Chief Justice as soon as the impeachment is registered. But the proposal must be approved or rejected by a two-thirds majority in Parliament.
Meanwhile, the main opposition and the largest party, the CPN-UML, has said that the impeachment motion was filed without the knowledge of the opposition.
UML Publicity Department Deputy Chief Bishnu Rijal said that the impeachment motion against the Chief Justice has pushed the country towards more conflicts.
In his tweet, he said that the conspiracy to not hold local elections had started and had damaged relations with the opposition.
